Taiwanese actress Hannah Quinlivan attended a promotional event for her new movie, S.M.A.R.T. Chase, in Beijing together with her cast members yesterday. She took this time to specifically express gratitude towards her co-star Simon Yam and thanked him for saving her from a huge misfortune.

Unbeknownst to the actress, she was already pregnant with her second child, Romeo, during the filming of the movie. However, the film had lots of action scenes, which included chasing, drag racing and hand-to-hand combat, and one such scene required Hannah’s character to fight and even get kicked in the abdomen.

The actress initially wanted to film this scene by herself without a stunt double, but Simon stepped in and protested against that idea. She had no choice but to sit out of filming said scene which, thankfully, she did, as she discovered about her pregnancy afterwards.

The 24-year-old actress was very grateful to Simon and thanked him profusely for indirectly saving her son’s life, to which Simon replied that it might have been fate, and even jokingly suggested that he could be Romeo’s godfather if the boy grows up to be a famous superstar in the future.

“It was a good thing that I asked Hannah to find a stunt double because even those people were getting kicked seven or eight times, and it would be extra dangerous since she was pregnant,” said the actor.

S.M.A.R.T. Chase tells the story of a "treasure protection team", with members tasked to protect a national treasure from a secret villainous group in Shanghai. The film is set for a September 2017 release.

Hannah is married to singer Jay Chou and the couple has two children together.
