Sonia Sui is not leaving the entertainment industry

Taiwanese model-actress Sonia Sui recently guested on an episode of the talkshow, Si Duan Hong Ren Hui, where she shared that she plans to retire from the entertainment industry soon.

After tying the knot with her businessman husband, Tony Chia, in 2015 and welcoming two bundles of joy to their family in 2015 and 2017 respectively, Sonia has taken on less work, choosing to focus on her family.

Recently, the actress also opened a new fashion boutique, and shared on the show that there “was a possibility” that she might just follow her husband to America, as his work often takes him there.

“There will be a day where I may have to return to America with him [Tony]. If there is a stable, and yet interesting job for me in America, then I won’t feel as much of a burden there,” she said. She also added that she might retire within the next four to five years.

“If [things progress quickly], it might even be within two to three years,” she concluded.

However, a day after the episode hit the airwaves, the 37-year-old took to her Instagram to clarify the matter, sharing that “the media had taken her words too seriously”. She added that she cherishes both her work and family life, and that she places equal importance on both, assuaging the fears of her fans.
