2020 will mark local songbird Stefanie Sun’s 20th year as a singer, and the 40-year-old wants to commemorate it in style. Apart from preparing for a concert tour, Stefanie will also be joining the third season of reality singing competition, The Coming One, as a judge.

In a short teaser video that aired recently, Stefanie revealed the reason she chose to appear on the show, laughing, “I was afraid my fans would stop being my fans because I haven’t appeared (on television) for a long time as I was busy taking care of my children.”

After tying the knot with her businessman husband, Nadim van der Ros, in 2011, Stefanie took a step back from her singing career to focus on her family. Although she has released two albums since then, Stefanie has always returned to caring for her family soon after concluding promotions for her albums. The couple welcomed their firstborn, a son nicknamed Little Nadim in 2012, and a girl nicknamed Poppy last year.

“After starting my own family, I did not appear on television often. I feel that my fans missed me. As next year will mark the 20th anniversary of my debut, I wish to appear on television once again, to share this journey with them,” Stefanie said.

The singer also shared that one of the main reasons she decided to join the cast of The Coming One was due to the fact that the upcoming season will feature an all-female cast, including the contestants.
