Vanness Wu appears visibly thinner amid divorce
What Vanness Wu has been up to since his divorce from Arissa Cheo
Vanness Wu, who recently made the news for a few pictures posted on his social media account after confirming reports of his divorce from Arissa Cheo, made his first public appearance over the weekend at gathering with fans in Taipei.
The Taiwanese singer-actor stepped out looking thinner and was seen without a wedding band on his finger. At the event, the 39-year-old told fans he has been busy watching DVDs and writing new songs - and had seven to eight new compositions ready.
Vanness also serenaded fans with F4’s hit song ‘Meteor Rain’ and Jacky Cheung’s classic ‘I’m Really Hurt’ – the latter song was seen as a reflection of his current state of mind.
According to Taiwan reports, after Vanness and Arissa got hitched five years ago, the couple had several public spats – including a huge row on Instagram which saw them unfollowing each other on the social media platform. The online brawl turned ugly when Arissa called Vanness out for being a “hypocrite” while he warned her to “watch her tongue.”
A close friend of Arissa revealed that the couple reconciled after that public fight on Instagram but fell out again because of his alleged bad habits and for being “overly friendly” with other women.
In a statement issued through her lawyer, Arissa, who had initially wanted to maintain their marriage, shared that she decided to end their relationship to put a stop to her “pain” and “suffering”.
When contacted for comments on reports of his divorce, Vanness’ management agency requested for the public to give him space and said, “[We] believe time will prove everything.”
Vanness and Arissa tied the knot in 2013 after dating on-and-off for several years. The couple registered their marriage in Singapore which states that couples who wish to divorce each other may only do so after three years of marriage.
Additionally, during those three years, the couple must live apart from each other, in separate residences. Following that, the couple must provide a valid reason that both parties can agree on for their divorce. If one party disagrees, the period of separation will have an additional year tacked on to the original three years, making it four years of separation, before a request for a divorce can be filed.
