Veteran host Chang Hsiao Yen’s show taken off air

She shared that it “might not be a bad thing”

Veteran host Chang Hsiao Yen’s show taken off air

Taiwanese host Chang Hsiao Yen is a familiar face in the Chinese entertainment circle, with her career spanning over six decades. She has hosted numerous variety programmes and has received six Best Variety Programme host awards, but her latest show has been officially taken off air after it failed to meet the broadcaster’s viewership rating targets.

In December 2016, she wrapped up her iconic Small Swallow Xiaoyan Night, which she had hosted for six years. Following which, she started hosting Xiaoyan You Yue last March, which was broadcasted once a week on TVBS.

However, it seems that viewers might have to wait a while more before they see her on television again, as Hsiao Yen has personally confirmed that her show will be taken off air due to the station’s plans, but took the news in her stride.

“I think that it’s heaven’s way of telling me that it’s time for me to rest,” she smiled, adding that having her show taken off air might not be such a bad thing after all.

However, her passion for hosting has not waned, and she let on that her schedule last year was so busy that she felt very stressed keeping up with it, quipping that it’s a “good thing that I received positive comments about my show; at least I’m not being taken off air because I received too many bad comments!”
