Taiwanese actress-host Alyssa Chia will be taking on her soon-to-be husband Xiu Jie Kai’s surname before giving birth to their daughter (nicknamed Bu Bu) in September.
Jie Kai, 32, officially announced his marriage plans at an event yesterday, stating that they are to register in August and hold their wedding before he enlists next March.
At first, they planned to hold their wedding before the baby would be due in August, but changed their minds last month when he said, “It’s too rushed. Also, she doesn’t want to be a bride with her large stomach.”
Addressing reports which claimed Jie Kai cancelled the marriage, he clarified at the event, “Everyone’s mistaken. I meant to say that we will definitely be getting married, but it won’t be a wedding just yet – we will only be registering the marriage next month.”
Although he did not reveal the specific registration date or details on their wedding plans “out of respect for [Alyssa]”, Jie Kai revealed that the location “may not necessarily be in Taiwan”.
Jie Kai said that they are keeping close watch on their baby’s every movement and have yet to work out the wedding details.
When asked about how 40-year-old Alyssa is doing, he smiled and explained, “She has yet to decide whether or not to go for a c-section. At the moment, she has gained 8 kg and is already anxious about whether or not she can get back in shape afterwards.”
The Taiwanese actor also said that Alyssa’s dream wedding is one attended by plenty of good friends.
