Yammie Lam: Retribution will fall on the evil

In a 2013 video interview that went viral in China earlier this month (Jan 10), former Hong Kong actress Yammie Lam claimed that Hong Kong actor Eric Tsang raped her when she was filming in Singapore several years back.

Following her accusations, the 64-year-old actor held a press conference in Hong Kong on January 17 where he denied them, and said he would be taking legal action against the creator of the ‘fake’ video.

Yesterday (Jan 23), letters written by Yammie several years ago were revealed. As the contents of the letter included Yammie writing about an “incident that hurt her deeply,” they were speculated to be referring to the rape incident.

In the letter, she shared what her father taught her since she was young. “Good things will happen to those who are good, while retribution will fall on those who are evil,” she wrote. “If the evil has not received their just desserts yet, it just means it has not arrived yet.”

In a second letter, she addressed fellow actresses in the same industry, and said her letters were meant to warn others of what happened. She also said it was all she could do, because she had been hurt deeply but could not get help to defend herself due to the high costs of hiring a lawyer.

Friends of Yammie revealed that the 54-year-old actress does not follow up on news regarding the accusations, and probably do not know that it had caused a stir online. They also shared that Yammie is a person who takes pride in being “pure”, but sadly no longer trusts anyone as the incident had affected her greatly.

The TVB actress was famed for her role as Spider Woman in 1995 Hong Kong fantasy-comedy film A Chinese Odyssey before eventually leaving the industry after she was admitted into a mental institution in 1999.
