Yang Mi gives daughter’s birthday party a miss

Hong Kong actor Hawick Lau and Chinese actress Yang Mi have always been rumoured to suffer from a loveless marriage, and have often been criticised for leaving their three-year-old daughter, nicknamed “Xiao Nuo Mi” (or Little Glutinous Rice) under the care of Hawick’s parents in Hong Kong whilst they concentrate on their careers.

Recently, Hawick was seen rushing to the airport after making an appearance at an event in Shenzhen, China. The actor was photographed boarding a flight to Hong Kong, with his hands full of bags, with many assuming that they were full of gifts for his daughter, who would be celebrating her birthday two days later (June 1).

However, Yang Mi was nowhere to be seen at Xiao Nuo Mi’s birthday party, to the anger of netizens, who bombarded her with negative comments.

Soon after, the actress’s fans sent out a post clarifying Yang Mi’s absence, sharing that the actress had already flown to Hong Kong earlier to attend the orientation ceremony for Xiao Nuo Mi’s first day of school. As her schedule was too packed, she was only able to stay for three days. However, she made the most of her three days together with her daughter, and sent her to and fro from school every day.

Hawick and Yang Mi married in 2014 and have a daughter together. They were previously seen attending Xiao Nuo Mi’s sports meet together in March.
