Yang Mi is not an uncaring mother: Hawick Lau
She flies home whenever she has time to visit ‘Xiao Nuo Mi’
Chinese actress Yang Mi is not as uncaring a mother and wife as the Chinese tabloids paint her to be, claimed husband Hawick Lau, in a recent interview.
The actress has been labelled a workaholic with back-to-back drama and film projects on hand. She was called out for missing her daughter’s birthday party last year and not spending Chinese New Year with her family this year, and she was last accused for being a ‘bad mother’ when she was spotted in Japan for a photoshoot.
Due to infrequent sightings of the family and couple in public, Yang Mi and Hawick are also said to be in a “loveless” marriage since they tied the knot in 2013.
However, at an event a few days ago, Hawick refuted reports that Yang Mi prioritises her career over family. “She would lament about how much she misses her daughter and flies back whenever she’s free to visit her,” he shared.
Yang Mi, who prefers to keep her personal life out of the public eye, waved off reports about her being an irresponsible mother. “Family, to me, is something that really needs to be protected, so I don’t see the need to post an update on Weibo to let everyone know whenever I’m back home,” she said. “You may say whatever you wish about my work, but not my family.”
