Angelica Lee’s husband won’t watch her intimate scene with Hiroshi Abe
However, he understood that the scene was necessary.
Malaysian film The Garden of Evening Mists has been selected as the closing film for this year’s Golden Horse Film Festival. Yesterday (Nov 21), lead actress Angelica Lee and director Tom Lin attended a press conference to share more about the historical drama.
Angelica admitted that she agreed to join the cast when she heard that she would be acting alongside Japanese actor Hiroshi Abe. The co-stars even share an intimate bathing scene in the movie.
When asked if she had a discussion with her husband, Hong Kong director Oxide Pang, before taking on such a steamy role, the 43-year-old actress said she did. “He understood that the scene was necessary because he is a director himself,” she revealed. “However, he probably won’t watch the film, or he will watch the version that is released in Malaysia because the more risqué sequences will be censored.”
Speaking of her husband, Angelica said that Oxide is similar to Hiroshi’s character in The Garden of Evening Mists, that is, they look very tough and manly on the outside, but they’re actually very gentle on the inside.
For example, when the couple’s twin boys were born two weeks early, Oxide stayed with Angelica at the hospital throughout the two weeks, sleeping on the sofa and cooking for her. “He is a very good cook - his food tastes just like they were prepared in a restaurant!” she gushed.
