Last month, Mandopop diva Coco Lee came clean about the slight limp in her left leg while speaking to the press after her Taipei concert. She revealed that it was dislocated when doctors pulled her out of her mother at birth, leaving her with permanent joint misalignment.

Despite warnings from doctors and the pain she feels even from just walking, the 44-year-old went against their advice and followed her passion for performing and dancing.

Yesterday (Jul 10), Coco attended a press conference for new music streaming service Line Music, for which she is a brand ambassador. When asked if she plans to go for surgery to treat her problem, she admitted that she is still traumatised by an unsuccessful procedure that she underwent when she was about two years old.

“It’s a very frightening childhood memory of mine,” she shared. “I remember being all alone in the hospital after the operation, feeling very afraid and worried that I would never be able to walk or dance again.”

Tearing up, she continued, “So at the moment, I don’t want to go for any surgery because I don’t want to be reminded of the past. I will just continue to take good care of myself and put my best efforts into everything that I do.” She added that she will soldier on with her world tour for the rest of the year.

Moving on to a happier topic, Coco recalled an interesting experience that she had while on holiday in the Maldives with her husband, Canadian businessman Bruce Rockowitz.

“I saw three sharks while I was snorkelling!” she exclaimed. “I was so shocked, I quickly asked the hotel staff if the sharks will bite people. They assured me they won’t, but I don’t think they were telling the truth! My husband also doesn’t believe that I saw sharks because he never got to see them for himself. He jokingly accused me of hallucinating. (Laughs)”
