Malaysian Mandopop singer Eric Moo, 53, appeared at the Taipei District Public Prosecutors Office yesterday accompanied by his lawyer.

The singer had been ordered to attend a hearing as a defendant in a personal injury case.

After a 20-minute hearing, Eric emerged from the prosecutor's office and was taken aback by the swarm of media waiting for him. He said simply that he was helping a friend by clarifying some facts.

The prosecutor’s office declined to reveal details of the case, saying that investigations were still ongoing.

Calls made to Eric and his wife went to voicemail. The singer’s manager in China could not be contacted by phone either.

Eric released his debut album in 1985 and his 1994 track ‘Too Silly’ earned him massive popularity in Asia.
