Five years ago, Chinese singer-actress Fala Chen made the decision to leave her blossoming career as an actress in China behind in order to further her studies overseas.
The actress enrolled in the famous The Juilliard School, located in New York, to pursue a four-year course in the Masters in Fine Arts. At the time, she confessed that she felt a little apprehensive at the thought of leaving her career behind.
However, Juilliard is notoriously hard to get into, with thousands of prospective students applying and only ten students accepted each year. Therefore, Fala decided to make the most of the opportunity after receiving her acceptance letter.
After graduation, Fala signed with an American management agency, United Talent Agency (UTA). The agency has a number of distinguished artistes in its roster, including American actress Frances McDormand, who won the Best Actress award at the Oscars in 2018.
Recently, American broadcasting company HBO announced the cast list for their upcoming drama miniseries, The Undoing. A six-episode drama miniseries that is based on the book, You Should Have Known, The Undoing stars American actors Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant. Fala was also announced as part of the cast, with the actress playing Jolene, a character that will appear in four of the drama’s six episodes.
Yesterday, the actress uploaded a post on Instagram, sharing that the “first day (of filming) went well”. Her fans have cheered her on and expressed their excitement at seeing her on the small screen again.
