A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan in the wee hours of February 6, killing at least 35 and many more trapped under a collapsed apartment tower.
In response, stars have rallied together in a show of solidarity to donate in aid of rescue efforts. Among those who have been noted for their donations are Jay Chou, Mayday and Faye Wong.
Speaking through his agency, Jay shared, "Jay is deeply concerned about the earthquake in Tainan and will donate NTD 20 million (S$840,000) in the hope that it will help with the rescue efforts."
Faye Wong declared, "As Taiwan's daughter-in-law, our family of four have chipped in a little to help." She is reported to have donated RMB5 million (S$1 million).
Mayday's Ashin announced that on behalf of the band's record label, will donate NT$10 million (S$420,000). After a previous earthquake, members Monster and Rock went down to the disaster zone and spent about 10 days helping with relief efforts.
Other stars who have pledged money to the efforts include S.H.E, Show Luo and Rainie Yang.
