Last week, Taiwanese actor Mark Chao suffered a cut in his left ribcage and abdominal pain after falling from a great height during the filming of French director Luc Besson's new movie Warrior’s Gate.
The accident took place on the set located at Xiangshan Film and Television City in China. It is reported that Mark was stabbed by the knife that he carried on him. The knife had allegedly landed on the ground (with its sharp edge pointing upwards) before the actor did.
The 30-year-old was immediately sent to the hospital where he underwent tomography scans and consecutive days of treatment.
According to Taiwanese media, Mark is currently in stable condition. The doctor has also ruled out the possibility of pneumothorax, an abnormal collection of air or gas in the lung caused by chest injury.
Mark’s wife Gao Yuanyuan, who had been stuck at work, finally made it to the hospital on Saturday night to fetch her husband home. The couple is said to have been locked in a tight embrace after seeing each other.
Due to his injury, Mark had to withdraw his attendance from the 16th Chinese Film Tripod Award in Hong Kong yesterday. In addition, his manager also shared that the Black and White star has been advised against rigorous activities for the time being as his wound has yet to recover fully. The actor would have to rest for at least two more weeks before he is allowed to resume work.
