Taiwanese singer-actress Rainie Yang is busy travelling between cities for her new tour, Youth Lies Within, after kicking off the concert in Taipei last December.
At a press conference in Kaohsiung for an encore show of her concert, a pre-recorded video featuring well-wishes from Rainie’s showbiz pals, such as Kevin Tsai, Ariel Lin, Selina Jen, Ella Chen and Lala Hsu, was played to commemorate the occasion.
The 34-year-old also fielded questions from the media about her past and current boyfriends who were both featured in the news recently: Roy Chiu for his Best Actor win for his role in Dear Ex at the 2018 Taipei Film Festival, and Prince Chiu for going public with Hong Kong singer-actress Stephy Tang.
Rainie and Roy were in a 10-month-long relationship while they were filming TV series Summer Scent in 2003 and prior to getting together with Li Ronghao, she was in a two-year relationship with Prince.
“They’ve (her exes) said a lot about [our relationships] so it is as what they’ve said,” said Rainie, when asked to comment on Roy’s win. “Everyone’s working in the same industry [and] hard work reaps rewards.”
Rainie also openly congratulated Prince on his new budding romance with Stephy, saying, “I wish those with good things happening to them well – be it [the person] who won an award or [the person] who is in love. They have my blessings.”
When the attention was shifted to her current relationship with fellow singer Li Ronghao, Rainie shared that her biggest takeaway from her ongoing tour was overcoming her fear of singing. The singer gave credit to her boyfriend for helping her, as she would share her feelings and thoughts about her performances with him after every show.
“He plays a very important role in [helping me] overcome my singing demons,” she said.
