Stephen Fung’s first time as Golden Horse Awards judge

The Hong Kong actor-director will begin reviewing movies for the prestigious award ceremony today

Hong Kong actor-director Stephen Fung has arrived in Taiwan and will begin screening nominees for the 51st Golden Horse Awards which will be held next Saturday.

This is the first time Stephen is on the judging panel for the Golden Horse Awards, which is often referred to as Taiwan’s version of the Oscars.

The panel, led by actress Joan Chen, includes Aaron Kwok, Stanley Kwan, Chen Po-Wen and several others. The next 10 days will be hectic for the team as they have to review a total of 38 movies - which may mean up to four films a day - but this has no pressure on Stephen.

“I already knew the workload beforehand,” said the 40-year-old, adding that he has no plans in Taiwan other than “focusing on the movies”.

And when asked about rumoured Taiwanese actress girlfriend Shu Qi’s sexy photo post on Weibo yesterday (Nov 11), as well as her recent injury on-set where she slipped and fell, Stephen simply responded with an awkward smile.
