It was a star-studded affair at the TOD’S boutique opening at the Marina Bay Sands yesterday as local celebs Jeanette Aw, Zhang Zhen Huan and Felicia Chin, along with international superstar Louis Koo graced the glitzy affair.

With the Chinese New Year just over a week away, we took the opportunity to catch up with the stars on what they’ll be up to this year – Felicia will be making a trip to Shanghai with her mother to meet Jeffrey’s family, while Zhen Huan will be taking the chance to fully immerse himself into his role in upcoming Channel 8 drama Trust me, Trust me Not, in which he will star alongside Rui En.

Felifrey’s families to meet for the first time

Felicia shared, “Jeffrey’s parents invited my mom to go over to Shanghai for the Chinese New Year, so we’ll be setting off on the second day of the Chinese New Year (January 29) and we’ll be there for a week or so. On the first day, Jeffrey and my mum will be visiting my grandma’s place together.

“It can be considered the first meeting between our families (…) Naturally, I’m a bit (nervous). I’ve already met his parents but I’ll be seeing his extended family and friends that he grew up with. Thankfully, my mum will be coming along with me!” she continued.

While she confessed that it feels very formal and “really quite nerve-wrecking”, Felicia went on that the visit is “not supposed to be that big of a deal because their intention was to see each other during the festive holiday, especially since they miss Jeffrey a lot.”

She has, however, started thinking about what she should prepare for her trip, which she chuckled has had her a tad stressed out. “I’ve been asking Jeffrey about what I should buy for everyone – abalone, bird’s nest, bakkwa or coffee or bak kut teh spices… I’m still thinking about it so that’s what’s been on my mind for the past few days,” she laughed.

Following Sheila Sim’s announcement that she will be tying the knot this year, we asked if Felicia and Jeffrey will have good news of their own to share this year. Felicia said, “I’m really happy for Sheila! Jeffrey and I, we’ll take things one step at a time – I think that’s more realistic!”

Letting on that Jeffrey has yet to pop the big question (“If you want to know when he’ll do it, you’ll have to ask him yourself!”), she ruled out the possibility of a flash marriage and teasingly replied, “You’ll have to wait for the end of the year to see what happens during the year.”

While wedding plans might not be in the pipeline just yet, she let on that Jeffrey’s family has a good impression of her thus far. “His mum is the type who always says what’s on her mind; she hasn’t mentioned anything about wanting us to tie the knot soon, but she’s mentioned that she likes me a lot, so I’m really thankful for that.

Louis Koo has started handing out red packets

Self-professed workaholic Louis has no time to rest – at least, not in his books. While other celebs may opt to take one-month breaks to unwind, he confessed that this is something that he personally is unable to do. He sleeps an average of three to four hours a day due to his work, which sees him film over 10 movies a year. He will be juggling two films during the Chinese New Year period, which he chuckled is a blessing because “I’m glad that so many directors are still seeking me out”.

During the first few days of the Chinese New Year, however, he will be setting aside work for his family. “I only have these two or three days a year to be with them, and these are the most important times for us to be together as a family. I might also sit down with my friends for a get-together and a meal, so I’ll definitely be back in Hong Kong during the Chinese New Year period.”

The 46-year-old actor has been asked numerous times over the year if he will be considering marriage soon. While he has remained tight-lipped about his personal life, he chuckled, “People have started asking me for red packets since you don’t have to be married in order to give them out. Thankfully, I still haven’t gotten hitched so I can still collect red packets of my own.”

“I was originally planning to go home for a few days during the Lunar New Year before I started work, but I was worried that I won’t be able to control myself and indulge so much that I’ll put on weight,” Zhen Huan lamented with a chuckle.

He will be starting filming for upcoming Channel 8 drama Have A Little Faith (formerly known as Trust me, Trust me Not) on February 6. Also starring Chen Shucheng, Marcus Chin, Jeffrey Xu, Jayley Woo and Aileen Tan, it will take over the 9pm slot on Channel 8 after The Lead wraps, and is slated to premiere on July 3.

On his upcoming role, he let on, “I just held a cast meeting earlier this afternoon and I’m really looking forward to my role and working with Rui En. Both our characters will have very distinct personalities. Our characters had some misunderstandings at the beginning but end up together later on. We encounter a lot of problems that are very relevant to what’s happening today but it’s also very dramatic.”

“It’s the first time we’re acting as a very sweet couple and our on-screen interactions will be very different from the bickering that we had in The Journey 3: Our Homeland.”

Have A Little Faith debuts July 3, 9pm on Channel 8.

Jeanette Aw has no plans to walk down the aisle just yet

Jeanette is known for always keeping her fans in the loop of what’s going on in her life through social media, and was recently spotted attending a friend’s wedding in Cambodia. Sharing about her experience, she said, “My Cambodian friend invited me over and I was really happy to see her looking so blissful (…) This was the second time that I’ve been a bridesmaid; my first time was when my elder sister got married. Fann (Wong) invited me to be her bridesmaid when she got married but I was filming so I wasn’t able to accept her invitation.”

With the number of weddings going on around her, and her relationship with her mysterious boyfriend (only known as Marcus) crossing the 10-year mark, we were curious to know if she has had thoughts of walking down the aisle. Chuckling at our question, she quipped, “No, I’ve never had such thoughts.”

Given that her choice of outfits is usually a dreamy gown or pretty frock, some were taken aback at her choice of going sporty luxe last night. On her change of wardrobe, Jeanette explained, “I was deciding between two outfits and all of us thought that I should go with something more unexpected (…) I think it goes pretty well with my current role (in 118 Season 2). I’m always dressed in sports bras anyway, so people should be used to me showing skin now!”
