Korean drama Entertainer has confirmed a two-episode extension and will now run for a total of 18 episodes. Broadcaster SBS was reportedly in talks for the extension yesterday, and confirmed today (May 12) that the series will be lengthened to include more details about the characters’ growth.
The Wednesday-Thursday series got off to a weak start, scraping by with 6.2 percent of the nationwide ratings (AGB Nielsen) for its first episode. It has gradually gained traction, with its latest episode gathering 7.8 percent viewership.
Another possible reason that has been raised for the extension is to buy more time for Wanted, the drama slated to follow Entertainer’s time slot after the latter wraps. The thriller has yet to confirm its leads, with Jin Goo (Descendants of the Sun) and Kim Hyun Joo (I Have A Lover) turning down their offers last week.
Entertainer stars Ji Sung, Girl's Day's Hyeri and CNBLUE's Minhyuk and is slated to air its last episode on June 16, Thursday.
