Yuri has become the fifth in Girls’ Generation to officially confirm her relationship with baseball player Oh Seung Hwan.
Korean news outlet Sunday News broke the news, which was followed by another media outlet, Dispatch, releasing photos of the two allegedly on a date in December.
Oh Seung Hwan is a professional baseball player who is currently based in Japan and plays for the Hanshin Tigers. Girls’ Generation was in Japan to record their latest Japanese tracks from Catch Me If You Can in March but Yuri was revealed to have stayed on in Japan for an additional five days for personal reasons, which is said to have been in order to lend support to Oh Seung Hwan ahead of his first game of the season.
Yuri’s label, S.M. Entertainment, went on to confirm the relationship, stating that the two met at a gathering with acquaintances at the end of last year and gradually developed feelings for each other. They added that they are still at the stages of getting to know one another.
The first Girls’ Generation member to confirm her relationship was YoonA, who is dating actor Lee Seung Gi. Sooyoung followed with her confirmation of dating actor Jung Kyung Ho, and Tiffany was soon revealed to be with fellow idol Nichkhun of 2PM.
Taeyeon was the latest to be confirmed to be in a relationship with EXO’s Baekhyun. Hyoyeon was belatedly revealed to have dated businessman Kim Jun Hyung after accusations of aggressive behaviour on her part were reported in the press. The two are said to have since broken up.
