It’s that time of the year again where broadcasting stations rev up for their annual year-end awards.
One of the most highly anticipated ceremonies, the Golden Disk Awards (GDA), is widely seen as the Korean equivalent of the Grammys and will take place over a span of two days (Jan 14-15) in Beijing.
The emcees for the night will be be Super Junior’s Leeteuk, Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany, miss A’s Fei alongside broadcasters Kim Sung Joo and Jeon Hyun Moo. This will be Tiffany’s second consecutive year as a GDA emcee.
Kim Sung Joo and Fei will be hosting the first day of the awards, while the remaining three will be in charge on the second day.
This is not the first time the GDA has been held overseas. In 2013, the glitzy ceremony took place in Kuala Lumpur and was hosted by then-Kara member Nicole, CNBLUE’s Yonghwa, SISTAR’s Dasom and F.T Island’s Honggi.
Nominees for this year’s grand award, Disk Daesang (album of the year) include INFINITE, f(x), 2NE1, B.A.P, Girls’ Generation, EXO, Epik High, WINNER and Taeyang.
The awards ceremony previously sparked controversy after two of the biggest names in the industry, TVXQ! And Super Junior, were revealed to have been left out of the nomination lists despite having released full-length albums this year.
