Jade Thirlwall thinks people assume she doesn't "have a brain" simply because she's a pop star.
The Little Mix singer, 22, has revealed that she and her bandmates - Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jesy Nelson - have complete autonomy over their social media posts and said there are "touchy subjects" the group are keen to address.
Jade - who was widely ridiculed after opposing British military action in Syria recently - said: "We have free reign on social media to say what we think and how we feel. There are touchy subjects we want to talk about.
"We're allowed to have opinions. Just because we're pop stars it doesn't mean we're not entitled to our opinions."
Jade argued people are to quick to think that because she's in a band, she isn't aware of broader social issues.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "People are going to mock what I say anyway. People like to think stars don't have a brain and can't have an opinion on anything political."
She said too, that she's received support from the public since posting her Syria-related message on Twitter.
Jade revealed: "Every woman I've spoken to has been lovely about it."
