Slated to air in November this year, the second season of You Can Be An Angel Too comes two years after the conclusion of the original season, with Zoe Tay, Rebecca Lim, Bryan Wong, Xiang Yun, Zheng Ge Ping, Aloysius Pang and Xu Bin reprising their roles in the drama.

In this season, however, we will see actress Carrie Wong being thrown in the fray as a lawyer-turned-nurse, and tensions are set to rise as she plays the love interest of both Aloysius Pang and Xu Bin’s characters.

While Carrie has worked with the two BFFs before, to the point where she even declared that “the first three years of my acting career was dedicated to the two of them”, this drama is set to be the first where the three will get to lock heads and act alongside each other, a combination that garnered nothing but praises from all three actors.

The easy camaraderie of the actors was palpable at the lensing ceremony held earlier today, with Bryan slipping naturally into his role as a host. The chatty 45-year-old even revealed that he had texted back and forth excitedly with Rebecca, who plays his wife in the drama, when it was revealed that there would be a sequel. Ah Jie Zoe Tay was also not spared from the excitement, with Bryan revealing that she had approached him at the makeup department to chat about it.

The trio weigh in on the pros and cons of love triangles

Although filming has only started for two weeks, Aloysius, Carrie and Xu Bin have spent almost every day filming scenes with one another and have “a lot of chemistry” together, said Xu Bin.

“Sometimes, we don’t even need to speak. We’ll just act [the scene] out, and the other will immediately add on [to whatever we’ve said]. I’m really looking forward to seeing our [love] triangle when the show airs,” he shared.

Similarly, Aloysius mused that this was “possibly the one and only production that is more focused on the both of us [Aloysius and Xu Bin], where we have our own lovelines and stories that we can play around with.”

However, when quizzed about their take on love triangles, and who they’d choose if they were to be caught in such a situation, the trio’s answers are vastly different.

Aloysius shared that he was “more of a giver, and not a taker [when it comes to relationships]”, and that he would rather choose the person whom he loves, while Carrie felt that she would eventually fall for “the one that cares for me more, just like any other girl”.

“Being loved is always easier than loving someone else,” she reasoned.

On the other hand, Xu Bin agreed with Aloysius, and chose to chase the person that he loves, instead of accepting the advances of the other party.

“I would rather choose to chase someone who doesn’t love me, because in the end, that’s the person that I love. Just because someone likes me, that doesn’t necessarily mean that I will like the person in return.”

If you could bring someone back to life, who would it be, and why?

My late grandma, we all miss her very much as it has been less than four years [since she passed]. She has always been a fan of my shows, if someone treats me badly in the drama, she’ll want to avenge me. She never got to see my achievements as well, [for example], when I won my Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes awards.

Also, there have been lot of happy occasions in my family recently, both my brother and sister got married, [so it’ll be good to have her there as well].

Which character would you like to play in the drama, apart from your own?

It would be Bryan Wong’s role, I had so much fun playing alongside his character and he seems to be having lots of fun. There weren’t a lot of ups and downs for his character during the first season, but there’s a lot this season, so I would love to play his character.

If you could bring someone back to life, who would it be?

It’ll definitely be my dad. He passed away two years ago in the hospital, where there were many angels in white who took care of him. I saw my father take his last breath with my very eyes, and I would really want to bring him back, if I could. I still miss him a lot.

If you could bring someone back to life, who would it be?

I feel like this is a very naïve way of thought. When my dad passed away, I wanted to bring him back at first too. [Later on, I realised that] if he’s gone, [it is because] he is going to a better place. Rather, we should treat someone well when they are still here, and let the person go when it’s time to go.

It’s tough to learn how to let go of someone, but it is a necessary lesson that will help you grow.
