The angels of Ai De Hospital are returning to local screens this November in the second season of You Can Be An Angel Too. However, life will not be a heavenly bed of roses for them: from love triangles to cancer battles to the loss of loved ones, the drama's team of nurses will face trials and tribulations that are much darker and more difficult than in the first series.

Fortunately, the sombreness of the scenes never seeped into the actors' real lives, thanks to the little acts of care and kindness displayed on set (more on that later), as well as the antics of the resident mood maker, Bryan Wong.

"It's always fun with him around because he jokes a lot," said Rebecca Lim, who plays Bryan's character Xie Yao Zong's wife Guan Xin Ni, in an interview with Toggle at yesterday's press conference. "He's able to lift everyone's spirits after a sad scene."

Zoe Tay and Zheng Ge Ping, who reprise their roles as troubled couple Wang Ruo Jun and Huang Yi Qiang respectively, concurred with Rebecca's statement. "If I had a nurse like Bryan in the hospital, I would forget all my pain and troubles," said Zoe. "Perhaps he should consider a career switch and become an 'angel'!"

However, Bryan's shenanigans also led him to be dubbed the least angel-like cast member on set by his co-stars Zoe, Rebecca, Aloysius Pang and Xiang Yun. "He's so long-winded and noisy, such an eccentric angel!" Zoe laughed, while Rebecca clarified, "I'm not saying he has a bad heart, he's just very playful."

When we relayed the results of the "poll" to the actor-host, he defended himself by reminding us that it wasn't him who initiated Rebecca's cheeky "diam lah!" ("shut up") prank, which was carried on to the filming of Angel 2 when Bryan used it on her on their very first day of work (prompting an indignant Becks to swear at him and declare "war"). Aloysius, who returns to Angel as Li Long Hua, also got into the act when he unleashed the phrase on poor unsuspecting Elvin Ng, who makes a brief cameo as Fu Jia Zi in a few episodes.

"They are all devils!" Bryan said, with a roaring guffaw.

All jokes aside, read on to find out whom the artistes named as the real life angels on set:

Bryan was full of praises for Sister Pauline, a real-life nurse who trained and took care of them.

"She's so cheerful and looked out for us in every possible way," he gushed. "When she found out that we also had to work on Sundays, she was very worried and went out to buy food for us, as if she were afraid that we would starve to death! She always had a smile on her face and never complained."

Like Bryan, Carrie Wong, who joins the cast as lawyer-turned-nurse Jin Si Yan, named Sister Pauline as the person on set who was "really like an angel".

"I think she was worried that we would go hungry, and would always bring us lots of good food; although I was trying to watch my diet, I couldn't help but eat it all!" Carrie shared. "She really pays a lot of attention to us like a real guardian angel."

When asked to pick the least angel-like artiste, the actress chose herself. "I don't think I could ever be a real nurse – nurses need to be very careful, patient, and know how to deal with difficult situations and people, which I think would be hard for me to do," she admitted.

Becks had trouble deciding if Zoe or Xiang Yun was the most angel-like, but she eventually settled on the latter.

"Xiang Yun jie has the aura of an angel – when she walks into a room it's like (imitates heavenly chorus) and she treats everyone equally well," she explained. "I remember on my first day in Mediacorp, before anyone knew me, she introduced herself (although I already knew who she was, of course) and offered to be my guide. She's the first senior I met in the company and she still takes good care of me to this day."

Rebecca added that Xiang Yun would buy breakfast for everyone on the set of Angel every day. "All the senior artistes are angels to me, and I'm just the greedy ghost!" She chuckled.

Xu Bin did not hesitate to call his buddy, label mate and fellow duke Aloysius an angel due to his simple but sweet gestures such as greeting the patients at the hospital where Angel 2 was filmed. He also shared that Aloysius would always make an effort to talk to and support the workers, who are people with special needs, at a bookstore in the hospital.

Zoe sounded like a proud mother when talking about her on-set angel of choice, Rebecca. "She would often buy food and drinks for the special needs children working at the hospital bookstore; she's really an angel, she's so sweet."

She also paid tribute to Ge Ping and his wife Hong Hui Fang, whom she has known for nearly three decades. "When I was new in the industry, they would not hesitate to help me whenever I had questions," she recalled. "And when I was pregnant with my first child and my husband was not in Singapore, they told me to let them know if I had any problems. These seniors who took such great care of me are my angels."

When it came to the question on who was the least angel-like, Ge Ping pointed the finger at Xu Bin, prompting a rather hilarious conversation that went something like this:

Ge Ping: He seems like a playboy! (laughs)
Toggle: What would you do if your daughter was admitted to the hospital under Xu Bin's care?
Ge Ping: I would call for the hospital to have him removed.
Zoe: No, I think you should be happy, because I believe she would be well taken care of. It will make her stay at the hospital less painful!
Ge Ping: (shakes head) I'm worried that she'll end up pregnant. (laughs)

Xiang Yun feels that the entire cast of You Can Be an Angel 2 deserves to be dubbed angel-like, but she also acknowledged that it would be hard to live up to the levels of dedication of the hospital work force in the real world. "I really admire nurses and medical staff," she praised.
