Neighbours from hell as told by Pierre Png, Zhu Hou Ren and Chen Yi Xi
Unless you live in a sprawling mansion with the house next door far enough that you’ll need a golf cart to get there, you probably have neighbours that you have to live with.
While some neighbours make your life better by opening their houses to you on special occasions, keeping your parcels for you when the mailman comes around, or simply being civil, there’s always the chance of encountering someone who will make you dread going home every day.
At the press conference of upcoming drama Dear Neighbours, we spoke to the cast members and asked them for the bad experiences they’ve had with their respective neighbours and came back with plenty to share.
From a war over WiFi networks, to literally running away from you when you needed it most, read on to find out what the stars had to say.

If you’re following Pierre and his wife Andrea De Cruz’s respective Instagram pages, you’d know that their furkids are as part of their family as each other. However, not everyone feels the same way as Pierre once had to deal with the possibility of having his furkids taken away from him.
The actor recalls a time where the residents’ committee wanted to ban all dogs from the condominium that he resides in. The reason? One of the members’ young daughter stepped onto dog poop on her way home, and ended up smearing the estate floors when doing so.
His immediate reaction was to call for the banishment of all dogs from the entire estate, and thankfully, other fellow neighbours saw how unreasonable it was and overthrew the entire committee, putting an end to this proposal.

Zhu Hou Ren
Back in 1964, Singapore was engulfed in turmoil when the racial riots broke out.
At the time, Hou Ren, who was still in primary school, vividly recalls the men in his neighbourhood assuring them that there was nothing to worry about, and that they would protect them no matter what.
With the men guarding the streets, armed to protect everyone else living in the area, they thought that they had nothing to worry about. However, once a loud sound rang out in the surrounding areas, all of them tucked tail and ran away, leaving the women and children to fend for themselves.
Thankfully, everyone managed to stay safe, but that definitely meant that Hou Ren never trusted them again.

In this age and time, people can get really creative when it comes to naming their WiFi networks. There are entire sites dedicated to punny names (such as A LANister Never Forgets) that will make you laugh, but there are some who use their WiFi network names for not-so-nice things.
Take Yi Xi’s former neighbour for one. A male resident who lived alone would use his WiFi network to broadcast his grouses against others living in the same apartment block. A typical name would consist of a unit number, along with his complaint against the residents he assumed that lived in there. For example, he’d name it as, ‘#07-07, stop stomping around your house!’.
He’d constantly change his WiFi network name to complain about different people, and someone else living in the same block was so upset with this passive-aggressiveness that they engaged in a WiFi network name argument.
The unhappy resident has since moved out, and peace has returned to everyone else living there.
