The love fortunes of celebrity couples in the Year of the Rooster

In show business, breakups and divorces easily happen at the drop of a hat – one day they’re together and the next they call it quits. Thankfully the local and Asian celebrity couples on this list have proved themselves to be more committed and less fickle minded from the way they fiercely protected their budding romances, choosing to only go public after dating for several months – or years.

Just for fun, we consulted local fengshui geomancist Grand Master Tan Khoon Yong (Way OnNet Group) to help divine the love luck of celebrity couples in the year of the golden rooster. Will wedding bells toll for Jeffrey Xu and Felicia Chin or will their relationship head south? What love advice does he have for on-off couple Nicholas Tse and Faye Wong too? Read on for more.

Rainie and Ronghao kept their relationship on the down-low and flat out denied all rumours about their budding romance even after the actress accidentally uploaded a couple picture (digital evidence!) of them on her beau’s Weibo account. Thankfully, they are less secretive about their relationship these days and even openly support each other’s work endeavours – like that one time Rainie shared a picture of herself wearing a sweatshirt from Ronghao’s clothing label. Cute.

Master Tan says… there are plenty of deep-rooted problems with Rainie and Ronghao’s relationship due to a clash in their characters, despite their image as a loving and supportive couple. 2017 will be a busy year for the two artistes too and their work commitments may put a dampener on their relationship. He advises them to keep their communication channels open and to work out any problems they have together, or else their relationship won’t last the next two years. Master Tan recommends Ronghao to treat both Rainie and her mum well in order to win over his girlfriend’s heart completely.

After embracing their relationship status as boyfriend and girlfriend late last year, Jeffeli (Jeffrey and Felicia) went all out with their social media PDA (public display of affection). Lest you think their relationship’s “a fad,” they are serious about making it work and have met each other’s parents. The couple will even be spending Chinese New Year together—with their folks—in Jeffrey’s hometown this year. While they clarified that it’s not a meet-the-parents session to discuss about wedding plans, who knows what may transpire from it?

Master Tan says… both Jeffrey and Felicia’s love and work luck will bode well in the year of the golden rooster, but as with every smooth-sailing journey, there are bound to be challenges that will put their relationship to the test. Their similar personalities tend to cause friction too and he advises them to forgive and forget each other’s mistakes for a stable, mature relationship. 2018 will be a good year for them to make a trip down aisle too.

This May-December couple’s (they have 22-year age gap between them) relationship was not looked upon favourably when news of them dating broke in 2015 – her dad even voiced his objections of a flash marriage between them. But guess what? Their parents will be celebrating Chinese New Year together this year and Grace even has access to Kevin’s apartment which probably means they are more or less ready to take things to the next stage soon, right?

Master Tan says… Kevin is an ideal man and a perfect match for Grace, whom he advises should date an older man for a happy marriage. Things are looking up for them in the love department this year and the year of the golden rooster is an opportune time for them to make a trip down the aisle. He advises them to act on it before it’s too late.

This young couple got to know each other when they were working on a drum performance segment for the 2015 President’s Star Charity. Things got serious between the two friends and they finally went public in August last year, after months of ambiguity over their relationship status.

Master Tan says… the both of them are born in the Year of the Horse and may seem compatible on the surface, but their rash personalities often put them at odds with each other. They need to work on their relationship and better understand each other’s temperaments. Lady luck will shine on Shane’s career this year, but he should not focus too much on work at the expense of his personal relationship. Shane is also advised to show more care and concern towards Kimberly, who will suffer from weak health and be susceptible to illness this year.

Are they or are they not? This ‘couple’ have yet to make an outright admission of their heavily-speculated relationship, but there’s no saying they’re not together especially when they are so open about their support for each other’s fashion labels. He wears stuff from her fashion line and she’s always seen in an outfit from STAGE. If anything, Show’s mum is equally supportive towards Grace’s clothing line and can’t stop heaping praises on her “future daughter-in-law” on Weibo for all to see.

Master Tan says… their stubborn characters and egos will lead to misunderstandings and get in the way of their relationship. It’s important for them to forgive and forget, accept each other’s flaws and shortcomings and change for the better in order to protect this relationship. It is likely that wedding bells will ring for them this year and Master Tan advises they pick an auspicious date to avoid hiccups on their big day.

One year ago, before Chinese New Year, Jesseca unexpectedly confirmed that she is in a stable relationship with a mystery man, who was later discovered to be Jeremy, for the past year. Things escalated quickly after they went public and rumours of a year-end wedding began circulating. The couple put rumours to rest when they revealed that Jeremy’s grandmother had just passed away in July which meant that they had to either get married within 100 days of her passing or wait for one to three years, in accordance to Chinese traditions. Well, no wedding took place – at least, not to our knowledge – and it looks like wedding bells will not be ringing anytime soon.

Master Tan says… Jesseca is someone who needs an older guy with a stronger personality to care for her emotional needs and give her a stress-free and comfortable life. Should she choose to be with Jeremy, the two of them will need to work hard in their careers especially since 2017 will be a year fraught with challenges for him. There are chances they may call it quits in 2017 due to the bumpy road ahead of them.

The Heavenly King avoids talking about his relationships and girlfriends whenever possible, so when he flashed a picture of him holding Moka’s hand – you know it’s a (almost) done deal. While some fans are supportive that Aaron, 51, has finally found “someone” (she is 23 years younger than him) after his high-profile breakup with Lynn Hung, netizens have been giving his 28-year-old girlfriend a harder time and labelled her a gold-digger.

Master Tan says… Moka is an opinionated individual with a mind of her own while Aaron is more laidback and easy going, making them a perfect match for each other. But in order to ensure this relationship works out, they should put themselves in each other’s shoes and be selfless in word and deed. Wedding bells may toll for them in 2017 if Moka takes the initiative to fight for what she wants.

Nicholas Tse (August 29, 1980) and Faye Wong (August 8, 1969)

Nic and Faye broke up in the 90s and went one big round—he married Cecilia Cheung and had two sons while she married Li Yapeng and had a daughter—before rekindling their romance again, after divorcing their respective partners. They’re an item again, but have kept their relationship away from the spotlight – except that one time they collaborated as business partners with Nic helping Faye with the live broadcast of her one-night-only concert.

Nicholas Tse (August 29, 1980) and Faye Wong (August 8, 1969)

Master Tan says… Faye needs to take care of her health as her fortune does not bode well in the Year of the Rooster. On the other hand, Nicholas will enjoy good luck this year and marriage is on the cards for the couple should he take the initiative to propose to her. One thing he needs to be careful of is his overwhelming ‘love luck’ with the ladies which may cause him to do wrong towards Faye. Their relationship will be put to the test this year and if they can overcome these problems, they can overcome anything.
