BIGBANG member T.O.P, whose real name is Choi Seung Hyun, is under investigations for marijuana use.

On June 1, BIGBANG′s agency YG Entertainment released a statement saying, "First and foremost, we would like to apologize."They continued, "After confirmation, we have learned that Choi Seung Hyun has admitted to the charge of smoking marijuana before his military enlistment. Following through with all investigative measures by attending the police’s investigation in the midst of his public service duties, he is deeply reflecting on his actions. Once again, we apologize for worrying so many people."

It has been reported that T.O.P, who is currently serving his mandatory military service at Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, allegedly smoked marijuana in liquid form on three different occasions with an acquaintance, who is a female k-pop trainee.

The incident is said to have happened in October 2016 and the police were tipped off in March of this year. On June 1, the Seoul Drug Criminal Investigation Department officially charged T.O.P and he was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, in 2011, fellow BIGBANG member G-Dragon also tested positive for marijuana and avoided prosecution as he had consumed it unknowingly.
