UPDATE (2.50pm): Song Joong Ki has shared a letter confirming the news of the marriage. In his letter, he asked for his fans' understanding for the sudden news. He also shared, "At the start of the new year in 2017, (Song Hye Kyo and I) made a commitment to each other, promising to live the rest of our lives together. We will hold our wedding on the last day of October and will start a new life in which we have each other during our struggles."
Get ready for the birth of a new A-list power couple, for Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will tie the knot on October 31.
The pair issued an official statement through their respective agencies, Blossom Entertainment (Song Joong Ki) and UAA (Song Hye Kyo).
The statement read, "Firstly, we'd like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Korean and international fans who have given Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo their love and support. We also ask for everyone's understanding for the sudden news.
"Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are planning to celebrate their union on the last day of October. The wedding will involve both the couple themselves and also their respective families.
"We had to be cautious until their wedding was confirmed (and) now we are able to give our official stand on it. Thank you for your understanding.
"We ask for your blessings for the beautiful future for the two actors and they will also share the news with you. Thank you."
Separately, UAA has confirmed that the actress is not pregnant and this is not a shotgun wedding.
Kim Jeong Yong, a director from Blossom Entertainment, shared that Song Joong Ki announced his plans to get married to Song Hye Kyo about a month ago, and that he made plans in earnest from then on.
The couple first worked together on hit drama Descendants of the Sun, with dating news between them emerging soon after. Last month, the pair was spotted vacationing in Bali, which fuelled these rumours once again.
