South Korean-Japanese girl group IZ*ONE held their first full-fledged concert in Hong Kong last Saturday (Jul 13), where they charmed 5,000 fans with their electrifying performances and adorable attempts at communicating in the local tongue.

Aside from the basic greeting of “hello!”, they also tried to say “let’s have fun!” and “I want to say that I really like you” in Cantonese. Although their pronunciation was a little hard to understand at times, they more than made up for it with their cuteness and passion. Fans, of course, lapped it all up.

The girls continued to interact with the audience throughout the show. During one segment, several members went backstage to change, while the rest stayed to chat with their beloved WIZ*ONE (the official name of the fanclub) or each other.

Once again showing off their Cantonese speaking skills, An Yu Jin asked, “What do you like to eat?” Nako Yabuki responded, “I want to eat mango pudding.” Kang Hye Won revealed that fans had sent them lots of delicious Hong Kong snacks, and said the egg tarts were particularly yummy.

Concertgoers weren’t the only ones who had a great time. Sakura Miyawaki shared on behalf of the group that they were deeply touched by Hong Kong fans’ enthusiasm and support. They then sang their tracks ‘Nekoni Naritai’ and ‘Gokigen Sayonara’, which had never been performed in the country before, creating an unforgettable night for fans.
