South Korean singer Park Bom held her first solo fan meeting in Taipei last Saturday (Aug 10), where she treated the 1,600 fans in attendance with live performance of her own songs, as well as hits from her former group 2NE1.

Although she had only arrived in the city the previous afternoon, she had already managed to try lots of local dishes, such as fried chicken and fruits. The 35-year-old also personally made bubble tea for two lucky audience members, and revealed that her favourite type is taro milk tea.

Then, in a demonstration of both her remarkable memory and appreciation of her supporters, Park Bom specially singled out a fan whom she recognised has been following her around to her various events. “I’ve seen you many times, but we’ve never had a chance to interact,” she said, inviting the fan up on stage so they could be properly acquainted.

During her performance of her solo debut single ‘You and I’, fans held up banners to declare their love and support for her, a sight that surprised Park Bom and moved her to tears. Later, she admitted through her manager and the host that she was so touched and taken aback that she had missed a line while singing, and apologised for the mistake.

For the encore, Park Bom turned the event into a party with 2NE1’s mega-hit ‘I Am The Best’, which sent fans into a frenzy as they immediately jumped out of their seats to dance along with her, ending the fan meeting on a high note.
