NOT AN APRIL’S FOOL JOKE: After nine months of anticipation, Ang Junyang and Candyce Toh’s baby girl decided to make her worldwide debut in the early hours of April 1, six days earlier than her estimated due date.
In a phone interview with Toggle, the new dad shared that Candyce had sudden contractions last night and gave birth to their firstborn, Azalea Ang, via natural birth, after six hours of contraction. He declined to reveal the exact timing of the baby’s arrival but shared that she weighed a healthy 2.7 kilograms.
The first-time dad shared that he was a bundle of nerves in the hospital yesterday and had stayed by Candyce’s side throughout the delivery to give her “support”.
“I didn’t know what to do especially when I saw her in so much pain,” he shared, “Luckily we have a very good doctor and the baby was delivered very quickly.”
They decided to name their baby girl Azalea, after a flower, because they found it meaningful. Junyang shared that they have not selected the baby’s Chinese name and intend to consult a fortune teller based on the baby’s date and time of birth.
Junyang requested to be transferred back to Singapore to accompany Candyce during her final trimester. He revealed that he will be staying in Singapore for the timebeing and has no concrete plans on returning to Taiwan for work as of now.
Junyang and Candyce met on Channel U’s singing talent show, Project SuperStar in 2005 and tied the knot in 2010.
