Nathan Hartono officially debuts in China

Local singer Nathan Hartono left his mark on Chinese reality singing competition Sing! China when he finished second place on the first season of the show, under Taiwanese singer Jay Chou’s mentorship.

More than a year since then, the 26-year-old singer, now a nationwide household name, is ready for his official debut in the Chinese market on February 9 with his first mandarin release titled Electric Love. This song is a remade version of his 2016 single Electricity, and is made with a pop sound catered for Chinese audiences.

The song will be one of five tracks featured on a full mandarin EP planned for a release later this year, which will consist of mandarin renditions of previously released songs, as well as brand new songs.

In an official statement shared with the media, Nathan described his whole experience as “amazing”, and is excited for the future.

“The journey so far into a new country has been such a learning experience, and it’s exciting because I’ve never done anything quite like this before.” The singer shared. “It’s a new sound for me and I honestly have no idea how people are going to react, but I can’t wait to find out.”

Since his success on the show, the singer has become an ambassador for several brands including MILO and the Ministry of Education.

He was also nominated ‘Most Popular Overseas Singer’ at the 2017 MTV Global Chinese Music Awards, and has been named one of the Brand Personalities for the Singapore Tourism Board’s new Passion Made Possible brand alongside local singer Stefanie Sun.
