8 foodporn-worthy desserts made by celebs

We’ve all seen gorgeous shots of desserts on our social media feeds, and while we might not always be able to get our hands on them (too far/expensive/fattening, lah!), we’ll always stop to marvel at how intricately designed some of these creations are.

For all the drooling that we’ve done over these treats, how many times have we actually stepped into the kitchen to bake up a storm? Taking it one step further would be to make your entire life about baking – which is exactly what Kit Chan’s character in Patisserie Fighting did. (Then again, if we had spent our entire adult lives investigating poop all day, we’d probably want to a change of environment too.)

We digress. Bringing the focus back to baking, it came as a surprise to us that some of the artistes we’re most familiar with are also wizards in the kitchen – Jolin Tsai, for example, has taken part in an international contest, and Hannah Quinlivan has spent seven hours toiling away to make the perfect cake for her little princess.

Tanya Chua

Tanya has whipped up so many amazing (and pretty!) treats that it’s hard to pick just one – even from the selection that we’ve narrowed it down to, she’s tried her hand at macarons, tarts, palmiers and, while this doesn’t really count, she’s also a master at fondant work. Impressive. It’s of no surprise that she dated a fellow baker too: Johann Martin, an instructor at the Bellouet Conseil School in Paris, where she attended a three-month baking course.  While she has kept her short-lived romance, along with the breakup, mostly under wraps, it’s good to see that her love for baking hasn’t been affected by the split.

Jolin Tsai

Jolin’s so serious about her work that she submitted this Marilyn Monroe inspired cake for the Cake International 2016 contest, in which she was awarded Gold for her elaborate creation. Another one of our favourites is this too-cute-to-eat movie set fondant cake. Just look at the details on the burger and popcorn!

Jeanette Aw

Jeanette seems to be a big fan of chocolate, especially since it’s a recurring ingredient on her drool-worthy creations. We must say that her most recent dessert (top left), looks almost too good to eat. This is what we call talent, guys.

Tracy Lee

Tracy’s interest seems to lie in baking cookies, rather than tarts and cakes, as the actress’ feed is peppered with all sorts of cookies that she’s whipped up. Calling it her “me time,” she’s also been spotted sharing the love (and calories) with her friends and family, for whom she lovingly packs her creations for.

Hannah Quinlivan

This is what we call the power of love. Hannah, who doesn’t bake often, spent a solid seven hours making this cake from scratch for her precious little girl, Hathaway. Sharing numerous snaps of the cake-making process – from building the rainbow coloured base to shaping the fondant, Hannah earned praise from netizens for the beautiful finished product.

Jaime started local cupcake chain Twelve Cupcakes with her former husband Daniel Ong, but did you know that she also whips up some heavenly goodies (other than cupcakes, of course) in the kitchen? Just look at these giant cookies – someone please tell us how we can get our hands on some of them.

Before Joanne and hubby Qi Yuwu welcomed Baby Qi into their lives, Joanne’s feed was filled with snaps of her baking creations – these days, however, we catch more glimpses into their married lives, along with elusive shots of Baby Qi. One of her more recent creations, the no-cheese strawberry cheesecake, was made specially for her dad on his birthday late last month, and we’re glad to hear that the lack of glaze meant that Baby Qi could swipe some of the yumminess for herself too.

Cheryl has previously shared that her love for baking was ignited by her mother (Jean Yip), who she affectionately refers to as mama. The cake pictured above was made last April, which Cheryl shared was a hummingbird coconut cake. While we can’t say anything about the taste as we weren’t one of the lucky few to dig into this sweet treat, it’s definitely a feast for the eyes.
