After eight years of epic battles, shocking plot twists, and character deaths both distressing and satisfying (ahem, “Purple Wedding”), massively popular HBO fantasy drama Game of Thrones is coming to an end.

While we wait for the highly anticipated eighth and final season to hit the small screen on April 15 (including HBO GO on Toggle), we spoke to several local celebs who are avid followers of the series to find out about their favourite scenes, moments that shocked them the most, and who they hope will end up on the Iron Throne:

How long have you been a fan of Game of Thrones, and how did you get into the show?
I started following it very early on, before Season 2 came out. My friends were watching it and talking about it, and I’ve always liked this kind of genre, so I got hooked!

What are you looking forward to most in the final season of Game of Thrones?
Nothing leh, because I don’t want it to end. (Laughs) Whenever my favourite shows are about to end, I feel this overwhelming sadness, so I will take my time to slowly watch the last season.

What is your favourite scene from the show so far?
I like it whenever Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons come out. I think one of the more memorable scenes for me was when she fed a slave master to the dragons in the dungeon where they were locked up. I remember it until now.

What is a scene that shocked you the most?
I think it was the Red Wedding. It was quite a b****** move lah, to kill so many people during a wedding! (Laughs)

Who do you hope will end up on the Iron Throne?
I like Daenerys Targaryen. She is my queen. Everyone else has too much ego. I mean, she does too, but she’s hotter than the rest of them. (Laughs) So she’s my pick.

What are your thoughts on the show finally coming to an end?
I’m sad, of course, and I hope that maybe there’ll be a similar show soon, but as with all other good shows, there’s going to be an ending someday. So I’ll just take my time to slowly watch the last season.

How long have you been a fan of Game of Thrones, and how did you get into the show?
I only started watching it when Season 3 or 4 came out. I saw a lot of memes on Facebook and I didn’t understand them, so I went to Google them and found the show, and since I had a lot of spare time back then, I decided to watch it!

What are you looking forward to most in the final season of Game of Thrones?
I’m looking forward to seeing Daenerys Targaryen’s visions come true! In earlier seasons, she had a few prophetic visions of the Iron Throne room without a roof, and it was snowing.

What is your favourite scene from the show so far?
My favourite scene was when Sansa Stark finally took charge of herself, when she finally escaped from Theon Greyjoy.

What is a scene that shocked you the most?
All the scenes with Arya Stark and the Faceless Men shocked me. (Laughs) I never could imagine where that subplot was heading towards.

Who do you hope will end up on the Iron Throne?
I hope… it will be the Night King. (Laughs) I kind of want to see a post-apocalyptic Game of Thrones world! [Ed’s note: Well, it’s not every day you hear of a fan wanting the bad guy to win in the end!]

What are your thoughts on the show finally coming to an end?
It's been a journey and I'm glad I took a seat. (Smiles)

How long have you been a fan of Game of Thrones, and how did you get into the show?
I started late, actually, I think I only caught on in Season 3 or 4. I decided to give it a shot because everyone was talking about it, and I got hooked. I like anything with fantasy or medieval elements... and oh, there’s lots of nudity as well. (Laughs) [Ed's note: By the way, the nudity is not why he enjoys the show. Just sayin'.]

What are you looking forward to most in the final season of Game of Thrones?
So many things! Who is the Night King? Who’s going to sit on the Iron Throne? Will Jaime Lannister betray Cersei Lannister? Will Tyrion Lannister betray Daenerys Targaryen? Will Jon Snow die again? So many questions!

What is your favourite scene from the show so far?
As much as I hated Cersei for blowing up the Sept of Baelor, that was a beautiful scene. Another one is when Tyrion used wildfire to burn Stannis Baratheon’s fleet. And when you first hear the horn being blown three times by the Night’s Watch (to announce the arrival of the White Walkers). And the Battle of the Bastards, when the Knights of The Vale rode in to help Jon Snow. [Ed’s note: Yes, we know it’s very hard to choose just one.]

What is a scene that shocked you the most?
The stabbing of Jon Snow, and The Red Wedding, of course. One image that will stay with me is when they put the direwolf head on Robb Stark’s body.

Who do you hope will end up on the Iron Throne?
Tyrion, because he’s my favourite character, but my prediction is Sansa Stark. I think she will be on the Throne with Arya Stark as Queen’s Guard and Tyrion as Hand of the Queen.

What are your thoughts on the show finally coming to an end?
It was bound to happen. You can’t keep this going on forever. Like the great saying from The Dark Knight goes, “You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”

How long have you been a fan of Game of Thrones, and how did you get into the show?
To be very honest, I only heard about it when Season 4 came out, and the reason was because he (Aloysius Pang) wanted to watch it. I wasn’t a fan but he kept watching it, and somehow, I ended up getting sucked into the world along with him!

What are you looking forward to most in the final season of Game of Thrones?
I really need to watch the show again from the beginning to understand everything because my memories of it are still currently stuck in Season 4. (Laughs)

What is your favourite scene from the show so far?
When Daenerys chained two of her dragons so that they would not kill more innocent people. And also the scene where Tywin Lannister verbally spars with Lady Olenna Tyrell. From an actor’s point of view, it left an impression on me, and I hope that I’ll get a chance to recreate a scene like that in the future.

Who do you hope will end up on the Iron Throne?
Beats me, I’m on the fence about this! (Laughs) But I hope it will be someone who has the best interests for the majority.

What are your thoughts on the show finally coming to an end?
All good things have got to come to an end. It’s been a good run and it inspires me to create good content like this for our audiences to watch too.
