Xu Bin and his wife, Evelyn Wang Yifei, tied the knot in a glitzy affair in Singapore on November 3. In attendance were celebrity friends, their loved ones, and the media – but it would be the first of three ceremonies for the lovebirds, who announced that they would also hold one in their respective hometowns, Fujian (Xu Bin) and Wuhan (Yifei).

The Fujian wedding was held on January 13, while they traveled to Yifei’s hometown and held their ceremony on January 28. The Wuhan wedding dinner, which was hosted at the Wanda Realm Wuhan, consisted of 22 tables, which hosted some 200 guests.

In social media videos posted by both of them following their weddings, it appeared that the ceremonies in China were as grand – if not, even more so – than their Singapore shindig, and that no expense was spared to ensure that it would be something memorable not only for the couple, but also for their friends and family in attendance.

This was further confirmed after exclusive snaps from their wedding were shared with Toggle. Yifei’s elaborate dresses (we spotted at least two gowns and one cheongsam), along with the exquisitely decorated venue (just look at those flowers!) gave us a hint of how much effort went into making sure they have a fairytale wedding.

Xu Bin has since confirmed with Toggle that he spent a "high five-figure" sum on the weddings, which saw the bride and groom go through two outfit changes during the night's festivities.(Continued on next slide: What else went on during Xu Bin’s Wuhan wedding?)

What else went on during Xu Bin’s Wuhan wedding?

It seems that the traditional ‘gate crashing’ was also part of the day’s festivities, with Xu Bin and two of his groomsmen dressed up in fat suits, while another two stood at the side wearing guzzler helmets.

Xu Bin’s buddy, Aloysius Pang, also flew over for the Wuhan wedding. He first hinted at it with his January 27 Instagram post of himself in a plane, captioned, “Flying off to be a friend for a friend.” This was a day before the Wuhan wedding was slated to take place.

The groom later confirmed with us that Aloysius flew over specially to be part of the wedding entourage, and the gate crashing activities included answering questions about Yifei, having to hand over red packets to the bridesmaids, walking on a reflexology mat, dancing in fat suits and promising to keep to a 'code of conduct' after marriage.

Based on photos uploaded on the pair’s respective Instagram accounts, it also looks like they have done another photoshoot while they were in China. Although these have yet to be shared online, we’re guessing that all the opulence and extravagance will be mirrored there as well.

During previous interview with local media, Xu Bin shared that their 27-table Singapore ceremony would not be “overly traditional”, and that their weddings in China would be more elaborate.

Xu Bin and Evelyn’s love story

Xu Bin’s wedding announcement in October came as a shock to many, especially since when he kept his relationship well under wraps.

The pair first met at a mutual friend’s birthday party when Yifei was studying business in Singapore. The pair dated for about three years, most of which was a long-distance relationship, before Xu Bin proposed to Yifei last year.

They got together after Xu Bin sought acting tips from Yifei, who is a graduate of the Beijing Film Academy. Their relationship blossomed over time, and the rest, as they say, is history.

They planned the wedding for about four to five months in advance, and denied speculation that they were having a shotgun wedding. Xu Bin has shared that he hopes to have two or three children in the future, but continued that they don’t have any concrete plans for when they will have children and instead let nature take its course.

Following the weddings, Xu Bin and Yifei are likely to remain in China for the Lunar New Year, which falls on February 16 this year. The actor previously shared that they have plans for a honeymoon, with the destination ideally the Maldives or Europe.
