Desmond Ng and Daryl-Ann Jansen do Singapore proud at the ASEAN+3 Song Contest

Our local talents have done us proud overseas once again. Over the weekend, Desmond and Daryl-Ann were in Hạ Long, Vietnam to rep the Lion City in the ASEAN+3 Song Contest 2019, a regional singing competition for professional singers from 10 Southeast Asian countries.

Last night (Jul 28), Desmond was conferred the Most Potential Award at the finals. “This wasn't my first competition, however, to be able to represent Singapore in a foreign country is indeed another achievement for me,” he shared in a statement. “It’s always a new experience each time I participate in a singing competition as it's a platform for me to rediscover myself and also refresh both my old and new singing techniques.”

“The process was tiring, however, I felt very satisfied and happy throughout the three days in Vietnam as I had the opportunity to meet other contestants from the other countries. It was an eye opener and I’m proud to be able to get an award for our homeland Singapore, especially when National Day is just round the corner.”

SPOP Sing! alumnus Daryl-Ann said, “I feel very honoured and thankful for the opportunity to participate in this contest and cultural exchange. It was a very humbling and eye opening experience as I got to know fellow musicians and singers from the various ASEAN countries, learning and creating memories with them.”

Congrats to both Desmond and Daryl-Ann!

Junyang definitely incurred the envy of all Manchester United fans in Singapore last week, having scored seats to the highly anticipated match. To top it all off, the singer even had the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the players in their downtime, getting a picture with former Manchester United player (and current coach), Michael Carrick. Colour us green with envy.

Christopher Lee celebrates his birthday with a golf-themed cake, and a very curious Zed Zed.

Christopher celebrated his 48th birthday with a celebratory dinner at Crystal Jade, complete with a gorgeous customised cake. However the biggest fan of Christopher's two-tiered birthday cake is not the birthday boy himself, but little Zed Zed, who could be seen running into frame, and then curiously edging closer to the cake to inspect it in a short clip uploaded by Fann.

This time, it's the singer's edition, with local singer-host Huang Jinglun and local songstress Stefanie Sun with a healthy does of pensiveness, courtesy of Stefanie, and humour, courtesy of Jinglun.

While Stefanie reflected on turning 41, and how she has fared on her journey full of learning points and lessons, Jinglun gave his followers a task instead – to get to 5,000 comments on his post, after which he'll reply every single one of them, individually.

Cavin Soh goes bald in support of Hair for Hope

Hair for Hope ambassador Andie Chen didn't need to do much to convince Cavin Soh, who had no intentions of going bald - well, at least when he showed up to show his support for childhood cancer patients - to go from host of the event to participant.

"So touched and happy to see so much love around in here at VivoCity," said Cavin on Instagram. "I know I will not forgive myself if I didn't shave today. We are here to let children with cancer know that we are here with you and it's really Ok to be bald!" Kudos to Cavin!

Tay Kewei pens down her thoughts after her son Momo falls ill

Poor Momo fell terribly ill, after getting a lower respiratory tract infection from three different kinds of viruses, leading to a five-day hospital stay. During his stay, Kewei and Alfred  Sim were overcome with worry for their 22-month-old son, with Kewei penning down a long post on Instagram, spilling out the anguish and pain that had befallen both Momo and their family throughout this ordeal.

"How expectations can devastate you. When the fever comes and goes, and your baby never seems to get better, you can only celebrate small wins. Him taking 230ml of milk, drinking more water, sleeping a little better, peeing a bit more. When you thought he was gonna get better already but he got worse, and your world crashes," a portion of her caption reads.

Luckily Momo's condition took a turn for the better, and the cheery toddler is now resting at home, after being discharged from the hospital.
