What the stars got up to the past week

Oh, what an emotionally-charged and sobering week it has been for all of us, especially our friends in the US of A. Rain or shine, be it Trump or Clinton who won the presidential race, life goes on as per usual for the folks in Singapore which, thankfully, kept our photo streams peppered with the usual spam of updates and pictures (babies! birthdays!) to take our mind off the real world events for just a bit. If you, like us, need a diversion from the political talk clouding your social media feeds, look no further—read on for your weekly dose of insta-buzz.

Tuffy celebrates his 7th birthday with his parents and younger sister

Must love dogs: We sure are heartened to see baby Azalea Ang getting along with her “older brother” and Candyce Toh and Ang Junyang’s 7-year-old golden retriever, Tuffy. The tiny family unit had a cosy celebration and cake-cutting session in honour of Tuffy’s birthday last week. How precious!

Former actress Xiuhuan, who quit showbiz in 1995 but has been making frequent media appearances of late, celebrated her 49th birthday with her showbiz girlfriends, Hong Huifang and Zoe Tay earlier this week. She may be hitting the big 5-0 soon but the actress and mother of three daughters barely looks her age. Agree?!

On the note of #throwbacks, we go back in time with Diana this week, from remembering her acting stint on TCS with an old drama poster that was spotted by Rebecca Lim to her marriage registration to James Lye on November 11 in 2003.

Avery’s getting cuter by the day – the baby, who just turned 4 months old last week, is seen enjoying playtime with big bro Aden. Going by how fast time flies these days, it won’t be soon before she starts spouting baby language – something we’re looking forward to ‘cos the conversations between the two As are bound to be hilarious. Now that daddy’s back in town, after wrapping up his projects in Taiwan, it’s mummy Fann Wong’s turn to report for work to plug her latest movie, Packages From Daddy, in Taiwan. After suffering from months of snubs from Fann (because of his absence), Chris made sure to get back at his wife with his updates about their father and son bonding sessions on Instagram. Hee.

Can things get any sweeter for Felicia Chin and Jeffrey Xu?

Love is in the air for JeFeli (reads like ‘Jeffrey’, don’t you think?) and the couple, who just went public recently after dating for 10 months, are unafraid of wearing their hearts on their sleeves and showing their affections for each other. What you get is a generous dose of PDA (public display of affection) on social media, which we don’t think fans are tired of yet. Aiyo, we feel a need to grab an insulin jab soon.

Another cause worth rooting for is the #iCANcervive (reads as ‘I can survive’) campaign that Ya Hui and Bonnie Loo are part of. The duo will lend their star power and put up a dance performance for the good cause. PS: Did you know that Ya Hui did dance for a total of 12 years and for the most of her schooling life, from Primary School to Junior College?

RBKD celebrates Rui En's All-Time Favourite win with a series of charity events

It is always heartening to see fanclubs pitch in for the less fortunate and to celebrate their idol's All-Time Favourite win at the Star Awards this year, Rui En’s fanclub, RBKD, organised a string of events that saw them “paying it forward” to the environment and less fortunate folks in society by planting trees and serving free breakfast to the elderly. Way to go!

Filming in progress for Channel 8’s ‘The Lead’

In other non-related local drama news updates, the cast of The Lead are now working full steam ahead for 2017’s mid-year blockbuster drama series. We can’t get enough of all their #throwback pictures taken of their characters working in the “old” TV station days and filming at Xiao Guilin in Bukit Batok. That location sure brings back plenty of memories of period serials we used to watch on Channel 8.
