Local faces spotted in the trailer of ‘Crazy Rich Asians’

The first Hollywood movie to feature an all-Asian cast is dropping soon – here’s a first look at its trailer (and all the Singaporean faces we spotted in it)

The countdown officially begins: we’re less than four months away from the official release of the film adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s Crazy Rich Asians in August. Film promotions is in overdrive - both Constance Wu and Henry Golding guested on The Ellen Degeneres Show to talk about the movie a few days ago and a two-minute long trailer just dropped. If the trailer is anything to go by, the movie’s going to be dripping with luxury – sports cars, fancy mansions, OTT weddings… you get the drift.

We’re excited about its debut for a variety of reasons: it’s the first Hollywood movie in 25 years to feature an all-Asian lead cast and is set in a place that most of us call home. Apart from half-Brit half-Malaysian lead actor Henry Golding, who is based in Singapore, the movie also features a handful of familiar faces and locations, from Chijmes to Marina Bay Sands. Everything is present except Singlish – but that’s a story for another day.

Check out who else we spotted in the trailer.
