Asian stars took over the TCL Chinese Theater on August 7 for the Hollywood premiere of the highly anticipated book-to-movie adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s bestselling novel Crazy Rich Asians, which finally hits cinemas this month.

We’re excited about its debut for a variety of reasons: it’s the first Hollywood movie in 25 years to feature an all-Asian lead cast and is set in a place that most of us call home: Singapore. Apart from half-British, half-Malaysian lead actor Henry Golding, who is based here in the Lion City, the movie also features a handful of familiar faces and locations.

Mediacorp actor Pierre Png, who plays Michael Teo, shared in a statement through The Celebrity Agency, “I’m excited about my first Hollywood Premiere! I’m amazed and can’t believe that it’s happening, and so grateful to have this fantastic experience.” Fiona Xie, who plays Kitty Pong, also flooded her Instagram Stories with loads of shots from the event, clearly having a whale of a time (and we certainly don’t blame her for that).
