Fann Wong hits 1 million likes on March 6

Woop woop! Fann Wong, actress, fashionista, wife to Christopher Lee and mama to Zed, is the newest face of the fan-made ‘millionaire’ club in Singapore after crossing 1 million likes on her official Facebook page over the weekend. The international actress who has starred in several overseas productions, with the latest being Taiwan movie Packages from Daddy, is constantly on-the-move but never fails to share snippets of her family life – and adorable son – on social media.

Well, if we can’t get our fix of Fann on local TV (her last local series were Be Happy and On The Fringe in 2011), we’ll just have to feed off her updates online.

More local fan-made millionaires and Asian entertainers who wield as much influence in different parts of Asia in the gallery.

Lee Hsien Loong with 1.02 million fans

In February, PM Lee Hsien Loong hit the seven-digit milestone and achieved one million likes on his Facebook fan page – for the first time – since it was launched in 2012. He joins the ranks of local celebrities JJ Lin and Aaron Aziz in the millionaire club and trails behind US politician Barack Obama who boasts a whopping 47 million fans on his page.

A relatively newcomer to the social media scene, PM Lee’s page comes with a personalised touch and is a space for him to share bits and pieces of his life as a politician, husband and family man, from updates chronicling his appearances at official work events to couple snaps with Ho Ching and anecdotes about his late dad, former Singapore PM Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

Based in Malaysia currently, Aaron’s fan page is filled with insights and snaps about his working and family life. The Singaporean actor and father of three kids openly expresses his affection for his family under the hashtag #aaronazizfamily, pens love notes to his wife and most recently shared a #prouddad moment when he raved about a poem penned by his son in school.

JJ’s page is mostly a place for him to share his latest updates and projects with his international fans but what we can’t forget is that one time he shared a live video and gatecrashed a busker’s jamming session on the streets of Taipei after a shopping trip. The impromptu ‘illegal’ busking performance was widely-raved and made rounds on the internet but none beats JJ’s brazen attempt to invite PM Lee to his San Francisco showcase a few weeks ago when the statesman was on a work trip in the US. He got rejected – nicely – but it’s still a valiant-worthy attempt to remember!

Jeanette Aw with 1.26 million fans

Jeanette is the only other local TV actress to hit a million likes on her official page despite coming into the social media scene only less than three years ago. She keeps her page active with random musings and ramblings about her life as an actress both on and off set, including BTS (behind-the-scenes) videos of her latest work projects and magazine shoots. Is it any wonder why she’s the two-time Social Media Award winner at the Star Awards?

Little miss singing dynamite’s popularity reached a new peak after starring on Chinese reality singing programme, I Am A Singer, two years ago. Today, she leads the celebrity pack in Hong Kong with 2.8 million fans – a feat that no one comes close to breaking in the island-state.

About 1.6 million fans behind G.E.M., Eason is the only other singer in the ‘millionaire’ club in Hong Kong. Currently on his concert Tour – Eason’s Life, the Cantopop singer has been sharing pictures of his different concert stops but the best concert updates that we’ve seen on his page thus far involves Eason bopping in the mosh pit like an enthusiastic fanboy at Madonna’s Rebel Heart tour. The 41-year-old shared not one or two but a total of six different posts documenting his night as Madge’s Unapologetic Bitch at her concert in Macau. Stars, they’re just like us.

Apart from talking shop on his page, the Mayday rocker often shares late night musings and random thoughts with fans too. He even takes time to read through their comments and interact with them – more often than not to send words of encouragement to those who need a morale booster.

This guarded celebrity’s page is the only place where fans will get to see non-paparazzi pictures of his life – and read the latest breaking news announcements, like when Jay announced about his impending baby with his wife Hannah Quinlivan or when he shared official pictures of his grand wedding ceremony at Selby Abbey in North Yorkshire, England.

Jackie Chan with 64.4 million fans

Big brother rules with a staggering – and amazing – count of 64 million fans, even with Facebook banned in China. His status updates are no longer than one sentence-long and are often accompanied by a smiling or wink emoji. We also love his sense of humour in his #TBT (throwback Thursday) and picture posts as it shows his funnyman side and reminds us of all the action-comedy flicks he did a long time back.

Thanks to updates on his page, we now know what Jet Li does on set in between filming breaks – playing video games on his iPad. However, this martial arts star’s page has been stagnant for close to a year, which brings to mind his last public appearance at One Foundation’s charity dinner where he spoke about his ongoing battle with hyperthyroidism: “I’m no superhero, I’m just an ordinary man and I’m facing the issue of being unable to continue with my job.” Fighting!

Lee Minho with 16.9 million fans

This flower boy one-ups boy bands and girl groups with the amount of fans on his page and adds a personal touch to it by managing it himself -- although he mostly shares snaps only when he’s on the road and his updates are sporadic and few and far between. He doesn’t do lengthy wordy posts either, preferring to caption his pictures with short hashtags which can be a good thing for international fans lest it gets mangled by Google translate.

Namie Amuro with 2.27 million fans

Slightly lagging behind Japanese AV model-actress Maria Ozawa who has 2.41 million fans and counting, Namie’s Facebook page is filled with bilingual updates in both Japanese and English. It’s superbly fan-friendly and fan-centric. Fans get to bask in this Japanese pop idol’s limelight as she often shares snaps featuring them all dressed up to look like her at her LIVEGENIC concert tour in Japan.
