Happy New Year, everyone! Can you believe it’s already the second day of 2019?

While you let that fact sink in (if it already hasn’t), check out what some Singapore stars did on the very last day of 2018, from enjoying cool parties with their famous friends to just indulging in a quiet night at home in bed, in the kitchen, or by the computer desk. Read on for more...

It looked like a fun ladies’ night out for the host, her daughter and friends, who enjoyed an extremely delicious-looking crab dish (courtesy of Mark Lee’s clearly very talented wife Catherine Ng) before going out to dance to ABBA and watch the mesmerising fireworks from the Fullerton Hotel.

Awww, would you look at these two lovebirds, who enjoyed a fancy dinner at a fancy Japanese restaurant, complete with sashimi, oysters and other fancy-looking concoctions.

The couple also had an exciting announcement to share at the start of 2019 (no, they’re not settling down yet): the launch of their new bird’s nest business, called House of the Swiftlet.

Ian held an Instagram live stream chat with his followers about five minutes before the clock struck midnight, and he even had a special guest join him, his pet Frenchie, Pogba. The actor interacted with commenters while taking note of the time and dodging kisses from his fur-kid, and then wished everyone a Happy New Year when 2019 came around.

We know what you’re probably thinking: no wild parties for this bad boy? Well, if it’s any “consolation”, he appeared to be enjoying a teapot of “lohan vodka”.

Cynthia was apparently so eager to secure a good spot to watch the iconic Taipei 101 fireworks that she booked a seat at a nearby cafe two months in advance. It’s a good thing she did, because she reported that people started coming in as early as 7.30pm, but it’s no wonder why that place is so popular: check out that view.

With a newborn baby just joining the family, it’s no surprise that the actor and wife opted for a nice, quiet night in on New Year’s Eve. “No Year-End Party to welcome 2019 this year, No fancy dinner or outings. None of that matters cos this year is so very special because of the birth of our little one [Vera Mae Tan]. Just a simple gathering with family means alot by God's Grace (sic)”, wrote Daren. Indeed, sometimes the simplest things are the best.

“New year in bed but never felt happier (sic)”, gushed the actress-entrepreneur with a photo (her last of 2018) of her and her husband Roy Fong kissing their son Marc before he went to bed. Such bliss.

Was Jack on babysitting duty for his grandson Flynn, or did Xiu Huan simply insist that the little one join their happening house party? Either way, we weren’t complaining - just look at that precious face. We hope he wasn’t spooked out by the noisy merrymaking.

After putting some finishing touches on his “first project” (which looks like a drama or movie script), Shane morphed into “gamer mode” for some rounds of first-person shooter game Counter-Strike about two hours before midnight.

Andie and his son Aden spent time with their a shiny new kitchen toy “juicing for a healthier 2019” with mango, kale, winter melon and green apple, and their first attempt appeared to be a huge success. It’s not every day you see a kid get so excited over vegetables.

Is anyone surprised at all that the “Hunkle” spent time pumping iron on the last day of 2018? We reckon this would make great motivation for those whose New Year’s resolutions include going to the gym more often.

Ping Hui sipped on a cup of coffee while reminiscing about the past year, which he “described as a year of changes” (well, he did sign on with a China-based entertainment company and has been jetting to the Middle Kingdom frequently for work).

“Signing with a new company, going to a new country to begin a new career working with new people holding totally different work culture and ethics from Singapore. It is a place where one can only expect the unexpected. But the one thing that remains constant, is the love from those who hold me dear within their hearts.”

Thanks to the location of their home, the former actress’s daughter Brooklyn and a friend got to enjoy a spectacular view of the fireworks in the comfort of their pyjamas.

The trio look like they’re having a whale of a time at a countdown party at Boon Lay. Sure enough, Bonnie reported in her post that there was non-stop laughter on stage with her two seniors, which definitely sounds like a nice way to ring in the New Year: with lots of L-O-Ls.

Desmond’s “simple” New Year’s day celebration involved a grill, fire, charcoal and meat. Yum.

After digging into an envy-inducing, extravagant Japanese dinner of wagyu beef, sushi, lobster sashimi, uni ikura don and more (hungry yet?), the multi-hyphenate had an early night…and was woken up by the sound of the New Year fireworks outside her window. “I suppose there are worse things to be awoken by”, she quipped.

Can you guess how the Mandopop star spent the last day of 2018 (it doesn’t really have anything to do with this ultra-sweet photo of her two children)? “On the last day of the year, we queued at the clinic for gout medicine for Mister”, she wrote, likely referring to her husband. Ouch. Get well soon!

Chilli crab and other sumptuous seafood dishes (plus champagne, of course) on New Year’s Eve does sound like a really, really good idea.

We’re glad Quan Yifong’s daughter lived to see 2019. On the last day of 2018, the actress shared several photos of her filming an underwater scene, as well as a caption that detailed how close she came to drowning (yikes) thanks to the heavy dress she was wearing and…her manager?

“As my ears was submerged in the water I could hear everyone muffled screams shouting to pull me out. All of a sudden I was tugged by the rope that was supposed to pull me all the way down ‘when rolling the camera’ but the cameraman was nowhere to be found and I wasn’t ready and didn’t even take a deep breath and got pulled all the way down. I started screaming and gulping all of the water around me, then I got carried out by the lifeguard. (sic)”

She went on to say that when she finally got out, she “puked the water and started to cry a little” as she was in such a shock. However, after calming down, the trooper declared, “You know what, I finally feel, it’s so damn good to be alive.”

So where does her manger come in? “When I was slowly losing my strength my manager got so worried and he pulled the rope he saw that was attached to me. He thought it would pull me back to shore. It’s 2018, my last job in 2018, and I almost got drowned by my very own beloved manager.”

And after this entire ordeal, she could still end her post with, “HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA (sic) Live well kids!”

Sadly, New Year’s Eve 2018 was not the happiest of occasions for the actress, whose maternal grandmother recently passed away (not long after she had lost her paternal grandma). She shared several photos of flowers from friends and colleagues expressing their condolences, and also thanked everyone who showed her love and support during this difficult time even when they may have been busy with their own plans and celebrations. Jiayou, Felicia, and our condolences.
